Boesen the Florist shaken by robbery

The suspect has not been identified, with police still searching for the perpetrator

Storefront of Boesen the Florist

Boesen the Florist had $500 stolen from the establishment during a robbery that occurred Tuesday.

The robbery happened at lunchtime when there was only one cashier present.

The robber was said to of walked into the store with his hand in his pocket making it seem that he had a gun and demanding money be put into the bag he was carrying.

“I was told to not be a hero.” cashier Cheque Out said.

The cashier said that she was frightened by the situation, but that she was told to just give the money in the register to the person.

Detective Nils Trygstad said that he wasn’t able to get a description of the suspect, but he was able to find that the robber had a ski mask and was of a more heavy stature.

“The robbery is out of the ordinary”, Trygstad said.

Trygstad offers advice to stores to get their security systems checked, and if they are able to,  add a cashier to a shift so that it would make it more beneficial and harder for the robber to perpetrate.

The Florist said that they are able to recover the money through insurance claims, but are still assessing the damage done to the door of the store after the suspect ran out.

The robber was spotted by a witness who was outside the store and they said that he ran towards the back where a getaway car was waiting for him.

Detective Trygstad said for the public to be careful and if another robbery was to happen, to report it speedily so that they are able to get to the case.

Other stores have been notified of the robbery and are making sufficient changes needed to stop a robbery.

Thrift Plan Loan Company robbed

After Boesen the Florist, the second establishment in Lakewood Falls is reeling from a robbery

Written by: Camryn Stephens

This town’s second robbery in three weeks happened a little after noon Monday.

A man with a husky build and ski mask entered Thrift Plan Loan Company while only one employee was on duty and reportedly stole over $5,000.

“He put a paper bag on the counter and told me to put cash in it,” cashier Sadie Smythe said.  The man had his hand in his pocket and made it seem to Smythe as if he had a gun.

Smythe has been an employee at the company for three years and never experienced a robbery before.

The other robbery, which occurred at Boesen the Florist’s three weeks ago, appears to be connected to the Thrift Plan robbery according to  Detective Nils Trygstad who is working on both cases. “Not much crime happens here, so it’s unusual to have two.” Trygstad said.

Both cases include a man wearing a ski mask and having a husky build. Also both times the man had what seemed to be a gun in his pocket.

“We don’t have any leads at the moment, but we advise store owners in the area to not leave employees alone over the lunch hour and to keep their eyes open,” Trygstad said.

If anyone has any information on this incident or the suspect please contact authorities.

Suspect caught after multiple robberies

Rob Dee Store was found last Tuesday while committing his third robbery in three months

Written by: Kaitlyn Maley

Police apprehended robbery suspect Rob Dee Store from Alligator Jim’s Animal Emporium Tuesday, Oct. 8 at noon.

Suspect walked into Alligator Jim’s wearing a ski mask, with his hand in pocket. Store went to the first cashier and asked for all of the money from the register. Before the cashier Kat Tayles could react, Store fainted.

“I was just getting ready to take our python back to his enclosure after his feeding time, when the man walked in wearing a ski mask with his hand in his pocket as if he was hiding something. Before I could react to him telling me to give him the money, he dropped to the floor.” Tayles said.

The cause of his fainting was discovered later after apprehension; Store has a horrible phobia of snakes that causes panic attacks that can lead to fainting.

The modus operandi of Store matched the two other robberies that happened in the months before: a ski mask, an empty store, needing money, hand in pocket as if there was a gun and they all took place around the lunch hour.

After matching his prints to prints left at the Boesen The Florist and Thrift Plan Loan Company robberies, he was indicted on two counts of theft and attempted theft. He was sentenced to five years in prison, with 60 days parole.
